This FREE webinar series is put on by the Oregon Technology Access Program (OTAP). The purpose of the series is to increase the capacity of educators, therapists and families for effective Augmentative and Alternative Communication systems selection and strategies for integration into learner goals.

ECHO Voices sessions will be held the first and third Wednesdays of each month, from 8 a.m. – 9:15 a.m. Pacific. Advance registration is not required.
Each session begins with a 30 minute topic presentation plus Q&A time, followed by a case study/didactic of an unidentified student. Contact us if you would like to present a case.

Session 1: January 15, 2020

Children with complex motor and/or sensory needs, who would benefit from AAC, have many challenges. Knowing where to begin and how to progress can be daunting. A 3-step approach to building tools, which teases apart Participation, Access, and Language (PAL) will be discussed. We will discuss the rationale for the PAL approach and demonstrate the process through case studies, exploring how each of the 3 areas of PAL were addressed with each child. Examples will be provided of how the 3 areas, when given time to develop, can come together in a comprehensive, multi-modal AAC system.

It’s our first build of the new year! Our Quarterly Ride-On Car Workshop Event is happening on 2/15/2020 and we are still in need of about 20 volunteers to help with set up, adapting cars, car fittings, and clean up! We will be adapting 8 cars and revamping 5 cars from our recyclery program!
