An Education & Resource Center
The Assistive Technology (AT) Lab is a collaborative education and resource center that is open to the public. It is a program within Community Vision, a unique disability non-profit in Portland, Oregon. The goal of the Lab is to help build AT capacity in Oregon, SW Washington, and across the region. AT creates possibilities for people with disabilities and can change lives. We want more people to feel comfortable with AT. Whether it is an individual and her family, a teacher and her student, a Speech Language Pathologist and his client– our goal is to help close the AT gap that exists in our region. To achieve this goal, we offer:
- Trainings & Workshops
- Individual Consultations
- AT Social Groups
- AT Lab & Regional Calendar to keep you up to date on events
- Open Lab Hours & Loan Closet for exploration & information
An Advocacy Organization
We advocate for your rights or your loved ones around AT services and equipment in Oregon and SW Washington. We advocate for best practices around AT use and assessment for better AT Outcomes. We are part of a local coalition of AT professionals, vendors, advocates, and consumers- called the Northwest AT Access Coalition (NWATAC).
A Public Space
Our Lab space is available to host or co-host community events serving people with disabilities, their families & support people, as well as professionals and disability-related organizations. Please Contact Us for more information.
Our Funding
Community Vision’s AT Lab is funded primarily through local and national grants, as well as private donations. To offset costs, the Lab generates a portion of income through fees for trainings and direct services.
